Who We Are
SSZ Learning Centre was created from a simple belief: education should develop the whole learner, not just prepare them to pass a test. We wanted to create a space where learners have the flexibility they value, while still benefitting from structure, meaningful relationships and a community of peers.
SSZ was built to bridge that gap, providing a focused learning environment where learners can work at their own pace, receive the support they need and understand not only what they are learning, but why it matters.
Our Approach
At SSZ, we believe education is about more than completing a curriculum. It is about developing curious, capable and grounded young people who understand how their learning connects to the world around them.
We provide the building blocks learners need to thrive alongside the CAPS curriculum, while allowing room for different learning styles, individual pace and genuine understanding. We encourage learners to ask questions, think critically, listen to different perspectives and take ownership of their learning.
Above all, we seek to instil values that extend beyond the classroom; integrity in how we act, respect for others, purpose in what we do and character that guides us when no one is watching.
Integrity - Doing what is right, even when it is difficult or unseen.
Respect - Valuing ourselves, others and the different ideas and perspectives we encounter.
Purpose - Understanding that learning has meaning and that our choices contribute to something greater.
Character - Developing resilience, responsibility, kindness and self-discipline that will serve learners throughout life.
Meet the Founder & Facilitators
Catherine founded SSZ with the vision of bridging the gap between traditional schooling and home-based learning. With extensive experience working with children, including running aftercare programmes, she has developed a strong understanding of the individual needs of learners. Catherine is passionate about helping learners understand not only what they are learning, but why it matters, while encouraging holistic development, confidence and independence.
As Head Facilitator, she provides the educational direction and leadership that shapes the SSZ learning environment.

Jessica Zachariasse
Learning Facilitator | Foundations & Learner Engagement
Jessica brings three years of experience supporting and uplifting learners, and is known for her patient, encouraging and engaging approach. She is passionate about creating a positive learning environment while ensuring that learners develop strong foundational skills and a solid understanding of the concepts they encounter.
Jessica combines structure with warmth, helping learners build confidence, stay motivated and develop a positive attitude towards learning.
Deeanna Sinclair
Learning Facilitator | Academic Development & Independent Learning
Deeanna brings three years of teaching experience and has worked with learners across a range of ages and learning levels. Her calm and patient approach allows her to create a focused environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas and working through challenges. She is passionate about developing independent learners by encouraging critical thinking, deeper understanding and the ability to apply knowledge beyond simply completing a task.
Her approach supports learners in becoming confident, capable and increasingly responsible for their own education.
